Imagine the Life of Your Dreams

This is a summary of my latest video.  If you’d rather watch that, you can do it here.

Are you living your dream life?  Not many of us are, but if that’s you – HURRAY FOR YOU!!!  How’d you get there, and will you share your secrets with us, PLEASE????

If you’re NOT already living your dream life, why not?  I hear a lot of people say life gets in the way, but isn’t life the whole point?  I think a lot of us Gen Xers have done what my kids call selling out.  Somewhere along the way, “achieving” and accumulating possessions became more important than living out our ideals.  The good news is see that slowing and maybe even stopping with millennials.  They seem to be working to live, rather than living to work, and I couldn’t be happier.

So, what about those of us that seem to be stuck on the hamster wheel of accumulating stuff?  Can we do anything to change that?  Of course, the short answer is yes, we absolutely can, but what exactly?  Do you even know what the life of your dreams looks like?

Take a few minutes right now and imagine the best version of your life.  Literally, stop what you’re doing, set a timer on your phone and just let your imagination go.  What does your dream life look like?  How is it different from your current reality?  Do you have more money?  How do you spend your time? Do you dress the same or differently than you usually do?  Where do you live, and who do you live with?

When that timer goes off, record everything you thought of, right down to the clothes you’re wearing.  Some of those differences may seem huge, right?  Others will be smaller, and there are probably some parts of your dream life that are exactly like your current reality.  LOVE it when that happens!  But now what?  Let’s consider one of those smaller differences for a minute.

What is ONE THING you could change to get a step closer to your dream life?  This could be kind of a big thing like finding a way to make more money, or at least spend less so it FEELS like you have more.  Or, it could be super small like drinking more water every day, so you can eat less and feel better.  But, it’s probably somewhere in between.  If you spend more time with your family in your dream life than in your current reality, could you schedule one family evening each week to start making that time happen?  Anything is possible.  The choice is yours.  But, it all starts with imagination.

All my life, no matter what change I’ve experienced, I’ve been able to use journaling to remember who I am, begin to understand what I can learn from this change, and how my experience can help other people going through something similar.  Get my free prompts, “Journaling for Answers,” and start finding your own answers within.
