How to Remember Who You Are

This is a written summary of my latest video, for those that prefer to read than watch.  If you’d prefer to watch, you can find the video here.

I’ve talked a lot about the importance of remembering who you are, but how exactly do you do that?

I mean, it’a a little hard to figure out why you’re here, and what you want out of life, if you don’t even remember who you really are.  We’re all molded by where we live, where and when we were born, and what family we were born into.  Add societal practices and religious training, and most of us end up living an example of what other people tell us we SHOULD be, without any consideration for who we actually ARE.

What if you could remember who you were BEFORE you learned all those well-intentioned societal norms.  How different would you be?

This is not as easy as it sounds, of course, but I’m going to tell you how you can remember who you are.  First, you need to become fully present and STILL.  Then, take your focus inward.  As yourself who you are, and then…..LISTEN for the answers.  Those answers may surprise you, but more than likely, they will seem VERY familiar, like you’re coming home.  And, of course, you ARE.  Those answers could be a little scary.  What will people think if you start living like your most authentic self?  How will you pay the bills, if you start living the life you actually want?  But, until you remember who you are, you can’t possible figure out why you’re here or make a decision about how you want to live.

All my life, no matter what change I’ve experienced, I’ve been able to use journaling to remember who I am, begin to understand what I can learn from this change, and how my experience can help other people going through something similar.  Get my free prompts, “Journaling for Answers,” and start finding your own answers within.
